This has nothing to do with financial planning … but everything to do with assisting you in developing the best mental and emotional approach to retirement.

I invite you to come and ‘cherry pick’ from my research and tools and discover how to kick-start your future.

THREE consecutive Age of Discovery workshops

______________________________________

Workshop 1:       Who Am I? – the intertangled mystery of identity

Some of the more common responses to this question are:

“….why do I need to know who I am?”

“….. of course I know who I am!”

“….. if I don’t know by now, what’s the point?”

Knowing who you are, your true self, enables you to make choices in all aspects of your life

that would

tip the scales of your experiences in favour of harmony

because

what you choose would be aligned with who you really are

and therefore

leave little or no cause for inner conflict from resistance.

In other words, your choices would resonate a big, fat YES right through to your innermost core.  And with a big fat ‘yes’, you would be inspired to make the effort in pursuing them, rather than seeing them as a ‘have-to’ requirement.

Now that’s a life worth living!

The No. 1 regret of the dying, as recorded by BronnieWare (a nurse in pallia

tive care) in her book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying:

“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me”

When our formative years and subsequent adult years are steered by others, from parents to teachers to society, then who we truly are, the ‘myself’, can become a murky, unexplored well of confusion.

One’s identity is multi-faceted – it starts with what you’re born with and is supplemented by the influences you’re born into and experience through life.

In the “Who am I?” workshop we get to differentiate between the two, as well as unravel

and identify the threads that together make up the package called myself.

Workshop 2:       What’s Stopping Me?

It often takes courage to be who you truly are, especially if you have spent most of your life bowing to the pressures of conformity. Reflecting and expressing your truth can be scary, but oh it’s exciting too, and so worthwhile.

It’s called liberation.

Liberating the real you                                                                                                                                                to move forward                                                                                                                                                           to live this third tri-cycle with purpose and fulfilment

This process of liberation involves overcoming and turning around disincentives – those ‘nasties’ that tend to keep our focus stuck on the past and/or freeze any attempt to step out of our comfort zone and choose forward.

These disincentives are well-crafted thoughts that fuel an internal narrative, something along the lines of:

“If only I had ………………………..

I could now be…………………..

But since I didn’t ……………………………………..

What’s the point now?

In any case, I can’t …………………………………………………… now

I’m too old to ………………………………………………………………

I haven’t been able to …………………………………………………………………………… before

So how could I possibly………………………………………………………………………..now

And what if………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I won’t have enough ……………………………………………………………………………..

So why bother now

What’s the point?”

These thoughts group under labels such as regret, guilt, lack of self-worth etc. and stand between us and moving forward to fulfil our purpose in the third tri-cycle of life.

But notice how I said ‘thoughts’ – they may well have arisen because of past events or facts, or a recurring pattern of events which tends to prompt a recurring pattern of mental projections.

We can’t change the events of the past but we can change our thoughts about them.

By changing thoughts and questioning their validity,

we free ourselves to choose forward with conviction;

By changing the old internal narrative,

we free our curiosity to explore, expand and enjoy unhindered fulfilment.

Workshop 3:       Where To From Here?

A sense of purpose is pivotal to a vibrant and healthy life, and even more so in your 3rd tri-cycle where retirement may leave you hopelessly asking Where To From here? – especially if you derived your sense of identity from your job.

You retire from your job, not from your life.

Whether you need to renew, re-ignite or discover your purpose, the third Workshop will show you that your contribution to life does not hit a cul-de-sac when you retire.

Fulfilling your purpose during the third tri-cycle of life would see you:

  •  getting out of bed every morning for a reason that makes complete and utter joyful sense to YOU!
  • making a contribution that serves beyond the needs of the self
  • more likely enjoying mental, emotional and physical vitality

Addressing and processing the issues of the previous workshops greatly strengthens the successful achievement of this workshop’s goal which is to set you firmly on the path of discovery into what comprises your sense of purpose. We’ll explore the various avenues and options that may nurture or germinate the seeds of it.

In addition, fun exercises will assist you in crafting your purposeful role – a role that may highlight more than a few strings to your bow of potential, and encourage the expansion of your expression of life.

Opportunities abound at this stage of life and with fear in check and a better sense of who you are, what’s to stop you from trying them out?

THE FOLLOW-UP

Attendance at all 3 workshops gains you the status of

‘DISCOVERER’

with membership access to a closed Facebook group to share ‘discoveries‘ and where interesting articles and helpful tips will be posted.

Each Discoverer group will have two 3-hour ‘catch-up’ workshops per year in which you bring your report back and queries on the implementation of all that you gained from the previous workshops. In the second half of each catch-up workshop, you will get a few new ideas to work on.

Discoverers will also get discounted rates on any other workshops (i.e. non-Age of Discovery) which you may wish to attend.
